SBU First Few Weeks: A Freshman Reflection

Haseeb Azhar

My first few weeks at Stony Brook have been interesting in many ways. As I was going into my first week of college, I had no idea of what it would be like. I had many thoughts on how it would be like to dorm, college classes, and even the food. However, the first few weeks at Stony Brook have been fun and cause for a lot of adjustment from high school. The way college classes function, and to balance out time, was a huge adjustment. Another big adjustment was being in the library a lot, compared to never going to the library in high school. However, Stony Brook has been a lot of fun as I have made many new friends. There have been a lot of events that made Stony Brook even more enjoyable, such as the First Night Out events, Wolfieland, and the football game. Furthermore, being a part of the MSA, going to the Eid Banquet and fall picnic made Stony Brook even more amusing. These events were really enjoyable and I made new friends that I’m going to be with throughout college and hopefully my whole life. Basically, the first few weeks of college have been a great and fun experience, but, also, it gave me a heads up on the fact that I'm going to have to work really hard to be successful in college.
